·         Those earning less than the median income can now stay in New Zealand for up to 24 months on an Essential Skills visa.

·         New Zealand Immigration no longer requires the submission of documents such as medical clearances and police certificates, as long as they have been filed in the past.

·         Employers who aim to hire you full-time and do not intend to alter your position or location will not have to repeat the labour market test.

·         In lieu of giving real proof, you and your employer might declare that the criteria have been satisfied together.

·         Before applying, you must have applied for a visa and obtained one of the following visa categories to avoid taking the labour market exam or meeting any of the mandatory evidence criteria.

-          A work visa, or any other visa that qualifies as such. Essentially, a Working Holiday Visa is a working visa in this situation

-          There is also the option of getting a study visa for New Zealand if you want to pursue post-graduation or doctoral studies

-          An extended-stay visa for a critical-purpose visitor with a length of beyond six months

All of these changes are scheduled to go into effect in the second half of next year. It will be implemented for potential candidates once the government knows a
